Monoaxial screw

A monoaxial screw is a rigid pedicle screw with a fixed head that does not allow angular movement between the screw shaft and head. It provides strong, stable fixation and is commonly used in spinal surgeries where precise alignment and maximum stability are required.

A monoaxial screw is a type of pedicle screw designed with a fixed (non-mobile) head, meaning there is no motion or angulation between the screw shaft and the screw head. This rigid structure allows for direct and precise force transmission, making it highly effective in achieving strong spinal fixation and deformity correction.

These screws are typically made from medical-grade titanium alloy or stainless steel, ensuring excellent biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength. Monoaxial screws are widely used in spinal instrumentation systems, particularly in procedures involving fractures, scoliosis, or spinal instability, where maintaining a fixed alignment is critical.

Because the head does not move, monoaxial screws require accurate placement during surgery, but they offer superior construct rigidity compared to polyaxial screws. This makes them especially useful in cases where high load-bearing capacity and structural stability are essential.
